Saturday, September 1st
Ride: Scenic Bike Ride
Start: 9:00 am
Pace: 11 - 13 mph average
Distance: 25 - 30 miles
Place: Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School, Williams Grove Road, Mechanicsburg

Sunday, September 2nd
Ride 1:
Ride: Carlisle Action
Start: 10:00 a.m. at the K-Mart on Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle
Pace: 13-15 mph, suitable for experienced riders
Distance: 25-35 miles with some hills
Please be aware: this ride is suitable for experienced riders. Anyone new to riding shouldn't be on this ride.

Ride 2:

Ride: Learning to Linger Ride
Start: 7:30 am - for the 10 mile ride; 9:00 am for the 16 mile ride. [Can do both, back to back, for 26 miles]
Pace: 11 mph - suitable for novice riders
Distance: 10 or 16 miles

HBC Learning to Linger Ride Saturday Morning:
Come join Owen Moore for a Learning to Linger single  or double loop ride on Saturday Morning Sept 1 Mechanicsburg HS. You can meet us at 7:30 am for the 10 mile loop or 9 am for the 16 mile loop or do both for a total for 26 miles.  Each loop is different but you'll see parts  of Mechanicsburg you seldom see on our typical club rides. We'll ride old and new neighborhoods as well as rural areas surrounding the area.  Pace will be about 11 mph with a willingness to linger whenever desired. Questions? Cumberland Valley Rail Trail

Organized bicycle rides to view the new informational signs on the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail

Cumberland Valley Rails-to-Trails CouncilSat. Sept. 1st
Ride name - Cumberland Valley Railroad in the Civil War:
Start:9:00 am
End 12:00 pm:
Location: Trail Head Park at 23 McFarland St. in Newville
All cyclists must wear helmets:
Minimum age for children is 10 years old, accompanied by an adult.

Sun. Sept. 2nd
Ride name - Cumberland Valley Agricultural Heritage Ride
Start: 9:00 am
End 12:00 pm
Location:  Trail Head Park at 23 McFarland St. in Newville:
All cyclists must wear helmets
Minimum age for children is 10 years old, accompanied by an adult.

Two options on both days....
1] Ride to Oakville and back to Newville - eight milesRiders choosing the shorter ride will just return to Newville from Oakville on their own.
2] Ride to Shippensburg and back to Newville - eighteen miles.

Rides will be limited to 15 participants each day.

Caledonia State Park: The Underground Railroad

Join Caledonia Staet Park and the Franklin County Visitors Bureau on Saturday, September 1st to learn about the Underground Railroad history.

View the video, "Underground Railraoad Through South Mountain", and pick up the Underground Railroad Biking/Driving/Hiking tour!

Tour the historic Caledonia Ironworks blacksmith shop, with presentations on Thaddeus Stevens and the Underground Railroad by Wesley Foltz.

ride in a horse-drawn carriage
to add to your Caledonia State Park experience!
